Voter ID is a legal identity document issued to the citizens of India, who are of or above the age of 18, by the Election Commission of India (ECI). It allows the citizens to cast their votes in the nation’s municipal, assembly and national elections. Voter ID also serves the purpose of identity proof, address proof, age proof etc. required for carrying out the daily activities which require the authentication from the user. It was first introduced in the independent India in 1993, during the tenure of Chief Election Commissioner T. N. Seshan. The Voter ID is also known as Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC).

The Election Commission of India was set up on 25th January, 1950 in accordance with the Constitution of India. HOW TO OBTAIN A VOTER ID CARD:

To apply for a voter card, the person has to be

  1. the citizen of India
  2. attained the age of 18 years

HOW TO CHECK VOTER ID CARD STATUS by ONLINE:

  • Visit https://nvsp.in/ and log in with your credentials.
  • Click on ‘Track Application Status’
  • Put reference ID and click on Track Status.
  • The status will be displayed on your screen.

CRITERIA To CHECK VOTER ID VERIFICATION

There is also another provision available to check the status of your voter ID card verification or status by dialing a toll number, provided by the officials of the commission. The steps to do so are mentioned below:

  • Dial 1950 (the toll number)
  • Provide all the asked details by the concerned authorities
  • Your status will transfer to you.

  • Press the button on the “Correction in Personal Details” displayed on the left side of the screen.
  • Click on Forms option. A list of forms will showing on the screen.
  • Choose Form 8. Choose the language, whether English or Hindi as per your convenience.
  • Fill in the details and click on Submit button.
